Birds

I love these bird paintings.
So much.
I especially love the one in the upper left quadrant.
Someday, I will either buy some or paint some myself.

Sold at The Mincing Mockingbird, found via decor8.

Valentine's Day Treat

I will be making these Fig and Ginger Truffles for my sweetie on Valentine's Day.

Hanging Kids Art

...using a shower curtain rod and clips from Ikea.

I need to do this now, not someday.

Tillandsia Plants

Not all plants need soil.
These only need daily misting and a weekly plunge into water.
I love them hanging in these glass ornaments.

Image found in January 2011 BHG.

Glass Shelves in a Kitchen Window

Keeps it light and airy.
Lets the sun filter in and reach all the plants on both levels.
A good idea.

Dwarf Orange Trees

On either side of a front door?
DEFINITELY!

Forest Wallpaper

The first time I saw forest wallpaper was at my in-law's house in my BIL's room. The second time I saw forest wallpaper was in my in-law's cabin near Zion's. I thought both walls were fun and kind of funny, in a good way.

There is nothing funny about this forest wall paper found on here on Norwegian photographer Elisabeth Aarhus' site. Isn't it beautiful? Look at that moody fog. Even though I love it, I don't know if I'd want something so moody in my home. With four females running around our house (myself included), the moodiness factor is sometimes more than I can bear. Maybe it would be a good idea, though--a room where they could sit and brood and whine. Out of earshot from me. And I love it with those white-washed floors. Wow.

See?

Before and After:

Dutch Doors

I'm a fan of the Dutch door, but it has to be done right or it can look overtly craftsman
(I'm cool with subtle craftsman but craftsman tends to look heavy and can start to look almost medieval) or what I absolutely don't want = country. It's just sort of a country concept, I guess, to hang half of yourself out of a doorway to hollar "Yoo-hoo! Marilla!" to your neighbor, because almost everything I see online of dutch doors are way craftsman or way country. Like, why these metal diamond stud thingees? I doubt they serve a purpose.

Take those off and ahhh, much better.

Killing Two Birds with One Awesome Stone

I love books and have a lot of them.
And because I never plan on owning a Kindle,
I plan on acquiring many more books in my lifetime.
While I don't see a dining room as an essential part of a house per say,
when it's combined with a library, well, that's just plain genius.
And suddenly very essential, says I.

Found on Tete-a-Tats.

I am Crying Tears of Turquoise and Gold

I am so in love.
Stila Persson makes me want to watercolor again.

Hidden Animal Teacups! Doh!

This falls under the "WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THIS?" category.
I want to buy these for everyone I know, including myself.

You can buy them on Amazon.

Polka Dot Cheesecake

I actually have this baking in the oven as I type this, but I'm guessing that I'll want to keep track of this recipe. It was so easy to make it gluten-free. I couldn't find any gluten-free graham crackers, but did have gluten-free ginger snaps on hand, so that's what I used. I bet it will be good, maybe even better.

Recipe and image found at The Baker's Daughter.
